ECO TIP of the MONTH
Brought to you by IdealBite

(Fern)seed No Evil...

The Bite
…and speak no evil of Fernseed, a new Oakland shop specializing in repurposed household wares. Hawking everything from antique jewelry to desk chairs refurbished with rescued paint and fabrics, Fernseed remakes just about anything into purty and affordable stuff, even turning old teacups into tiny succulent gardens (drought-resistant and locally grown). Plus, the space serves as a gallery for sustainable designers to show off their recycled arts (Jen Pearson's light box made of medical test tubes and reclaimed wood = awesome) - no monkeying around.

The Benefits

  • Repurposing old things to create cool, new things keeps usable stuff out of the trash.
  • We covet the be-wheeled salvaged wood chair with pink, embroidered fabric, which we're sure would make us the most enviable sitter in the office.

Wanna Try?

  • Fernseed, 3436 Dimond Ave., Oakland (510-882-1598)
